This ring which we are attributing to a Diné silversmith of the Navajo Nation features a beautiful display of seven coral gemstones mounted in a silver floral pattern. Such an arrangement of the coral provides for its best advantage.
Coral was introduced to the Southwest by the Spaniards but was not used extensively until the late 1930s, when traders imported it to Zuni Pueblo. Most coral used in the Southwest came from the Mediterranean. Both Pueblo and Navajo artisans work with coral. It is a rich and beautiful medium in Native jewelry.
Condition: very good condition
Provenance: this Floral Design Coral and Silver Ring is from a private collection
