Dan Jackson (1952-2022), a renowned Navajo silversmith, was celebrated for his intricate "rug pattern" etchings in silver and gold. Inspired by his mother, Bernice Charlie, a weaver, and trained by his father, John Nez Begay, a master jeweler, Dan blended tradition and innovation to create his signature triple-overlay jewelry designs.

Originally educated in engineering, Dan worked for the Bureau of Indian Affairs for 20 years. After an injury in 1985, he devoted himself fully to silversmithing to support his family. His work earned numerous awards at events like the Gallup Inter-tribal Ceremonial and the Window Rock Tribal Fair. Dan passed away in May 2022, leaving a legacy of exceptional craftsmanship and artistry.
