After a casual look at this bracelet, most knowledgeable collectors and dealers would identify it as having been made by a Navajo, as it is typically like the work of members of that tribe. This one, however, is clearly marked that it was made by Chief Sunny Skies of Acoma Pueblo. This one does not have a date stamped with the signature but the other two items we have had from this same collection that were signed by Chief Sunny Skies were dated 1938 and 1939, so it is presumed that this bracelet would probably have been made at that time.
There is a beautiful very large oval turquoise stone with a wonderful copper-color matrix. It is set is a scalloped silver bezel and mounted on a scalloped and stamped silver sheet with a rope of silver dots at the base. The bracelet is comprised of three strips of silver, the center one being flat, wide, and stamped with traditional stamps. The two outer silver bars are triangular in shape and not stamped. The three strips are tied together at the ends with a silver strip.
The bracelet is inscribed Handmade in Sterling by Chief Sunny Skies, Acoma Indian.
