There is a large Moquino family at Santa Clara Pueblo but I have not yet found to which family Lee Moquino belongs. He has been making pottery since 2003, and during a recent visit to the gallery identified this piece as one of his very first. Not many potters at Santa Clara Pueblo make micaceous pottery, as that is more often made at the more northern pueblos.
This jar is perfectly symmetrical and glows with flakes of mica in the clay. Both interior and exterior are highly polished. There are beautiful fire clouds on the lower body from the firing technique.
Condition: as new
