This presentation of a Hopi Pueblo Kwahu (Eagle) Katsina is accurate, but some of the paint colors are unusual—pink kilt, blue moccasins, for instance.  It was perhaps painted in this manner to make it more appealing for the Fred Harvey Advertising Department’s purposes, that is to make a splashy display.

This Kwahu Katsina, Eagle Kachina Doll in Dance Position from the Fred Harvey Collection is mounted on a square black wood platform of the style used by the Fred Harvey Company on many of its katsina dolls.  There are no other identifying markings to indicate a Fred Harvey provenance, however the doll is part of the collection with that provenance.

Condition: the left wing has been broken and repaired.  The right wing is unharmed.  There is very minor paint abrasion but no breakage or damage otherwise.
