Traditionally, the Badger Katsina is a healing Katsina with the knowledge and ability to grow healing herbs. Normally, this katsina does not have red ears as presented here but the two upright feathers serve as ears. Many of the accoutrements normally associated with this katsina are not shown on this one as it was certainly a simple version made to be sold as a souvenir. It probably dates to the early 1980s.
Condition: very good condition except for the broken tip of the left foot
Provenance: from the collection of a family from Oregon to whom we sold this doll in 1984.
