Sadie Adams, Hopi Pueblo Pottery

Sadie Adams - Flower Girl signatureTiles have been a popular collector's item for over a hundred years. The Hopi-Tewa potters have always been more prolific than the Rio Grande Pueblos in making them. Sadie Adams was very adept at making them and she made some of the largest tiles ever made. This tile is a good example of her large ones. It features a design that incorporates a portion of the Salakomana Katsina and its elaborate headdress.

It is signed with one of her flower hallmarks: Sadie Adams (1905-1995) Flower Woman (click here for her biography and examples of her hallmark signatures)
