Charles Navasie is the great-grandson of Paqua Naha (the first Frogwoman) and the grandson of Joy Navasie (the second Frogwoman). He is the son of Loretta Navasie. I have no record indicating when he became a potter but he has obviously been at it for some time based on the quality of this jar.
This seed jar was beautifully executed. It is well balanced and highly burnished. The design is comprised of Hummingbird-like birds of a style seen on prehistoric Sikyatki pottery fragments. Stick-figure-like dragonflies fly around the neck area. The artist's signature is the name Navasie inside a frog hallmark.
Condition: The jar is in original excellent condition
Provenance: from an Albuquerque gentleman
