This is an older version of a Corn Katsina, the specific Hopi name may be Qa’ökatsina. Barton Wright referred to this as a Rugan, which is another group name for Corn Katsinas. Each of the Corn Katsinas has a specific Hopi name.
The doll probably dates to pre 1940s based on the casein-type paints used. We photographed the doll with all the original feathers because we wished to record its original presentation for future reference, then we unfortunately removed the feathers suspected to be illegal in accordance with Federal Regulations.
Condition: very good condition with a repair to a broken left arm.
