This unique Zia jar stands out with its notable weight and distinctive features, believed to date back to the 1920s or 1930s. The jar has a darker tonality compared to its counterparts, with dimmer colors that add a sense of antiquity and character. The most striking aspect of this piece is the unusual caribou motifs painted on either side, a rare departure from the traditional imagery typically seen on Zia pottery. These caribou motifs are framed by more conventional bands and motifs, creating a fascinating blend of the familiar and the unexpected. This jar is a remarkable example of Zia artistry, merging traditional designs with unique elements that make it truly one-of-a-kind.
