This *paua shell and silver necklace and earrings set is a wonderful example of the creative talent of Diné artist Fred Guerra. The artist used paua shell and silver to fashion a unique choker and earring set.
The craftsmanship of this set is spectacular. Frank Guerra paired the unique iridescent quality of the paua shell with silver. He precisely set each shell piece in a straight edged bezel. The choker consists of two parts—the top part is crescent shaped, with three beautiful blue paua shell pieces, and a bottom section is composed of three long oval segments of paua shell and one smaller one. Guerra set silver drops interspersed between the paua shell.
Each earring is composed of an oval paua shell mounted in a bezel. Suspended from this is a fan-shaped silver dangle.
The necklace is signed with the initials FG, the hallmark for Fred Guerra.
*Note: New Zealand Paua shells are otherwise known as Abalone shell in other countries.
Condition: the necklace is in excellent condition.
Provenance: this Fred Guerra Paua Shell Necklace and Earrings SET is from a Colorado collection
