This wonderful early 20th century figurine has been interpreted by us to be a dog, but without a tail.  It is one of the finest figurines from Cochiti we have seen in quite some time. The sway back was beautifully decorated in white checkerboards, dotted triangles and what might be fringe at the ends.  He wears a double black-line neck collar and has dashes across his front. There are rotating designs on each side of the face. The legs and underbody are red like the underbody of traditional jars and bowls.

Condition: this Cochiti Pueblo Sway Back Pottery Dog Figurine is in excellent condition

Provenance: from the extensive collection of a Colorado family
