This canteen sits so the spout is up at an angle to prevent water spillage from the neck. On its back ride a lizard and a turtle, both heading toward the spout for a drink. Traditional Cochiti Pueblo rain cloud symbols are painted on the surface. Condition: The canteen is in original excellent condition. Provenance: from the collection of Katherine H. Rust. The canteen was probably a gift from the potter to Mrs. Rust from one of her many Pueblo friends which is a reason that it is not signed.
