The influence of Cochiti Pueblo artist Helen Cordero is evident in this male storyteller figurine by her granddaughter Buffy Cordero. The closed eyes, open mouth, and plaid shirt are typical of Helen’s design. Buffy added a painted shirt collar and a bolo tie. The two children sitting on his shoulders are looking forward and have expressions in their looks. One boy on his leg has his hands behind his head and the other appears to be napping on the other leg.
Condition: this BUFFY CORDERO Male Storyteller with 4 Children is in original condition.
Provenance: this figurine was purchased from Buffy by Adobe Gallery in 2000 and sold to the Denver couple who are the current owners.
