This Santa Clara Pueblo pottery black carved jar was made by mother and son, Mela and Nathan Youngblood in the 1970s. Mela Tafoya Youngblood (1931-1991) Mistletoe Yellow and Nathan Youngblood (1954- ) Deer Path collaborated on the jar but the extent that each contributed is not known at this time. The carved design of a stylized Avanyu appears to be more in style with Nathan's work than with that of Mela.
