The chair and rocking chair (pair) are low and square with one wide slat in the center of the back, flanked by three thinner slats on each side.  The side panels under the armrests are of the same style.  The seat cushions are removable and have been recovered with dark brown faux leather.  The chairs date to the early 20th century.

Condition:  The chairs are in excellent condition with the original finish showing normal wear.

Provenance: Purchased in 1991 from a New England antiques dealer
