This is an Arctic Fox pelt that has been made into a headpiece that was either used in a Powwow dance or perhaps made for use by a mountain man. The inside of the cap is lined with red wool. The circumference of the interior is 20-1/2”. Suspended from the left side are two imitation eagle feathers attached to a beaded rosette in a red, white, blue and orange beads, sewn in a star pattern. The tips of both feathers are cracked slightly and bent at the quill.   

 

Condition:  slight tearing to the leather above the tail and the tips of both feathers are cracked slightly and bent at the quill.

Provenance:  from a collector in Colorado
