This charming small female storyteller figurine was made by Buffy Cordero, granddaughter of famed potter, Helen Cordero, and daughter of George Cordero, also a potter. Helen Cordero encouraged all her children and grandchildren to become potters and all of them did do so. None of them continued pottery as a career following the death of Helen. She obviously was the driving force and inspiration for keeping them potting and that was lost when she passed away.
I believe this is an early figurine by Buffy and it is one of the best of her works. It is very similar to those of Helen and the grandmother’s influence is quite obvious.
