Louis (1932-1997) and Virginia Naranjo (b.1932) were a most creative couple making figurine pottery at Cochiti in the 1980s and 1990s. I believe Louis was the inspiration behind making bear storyteller figurines. He said that he saw a mother bear with her cubs one afternoon while hunting and it gave him the idea for bear storytellers like this one.
