- Medium: clay, pigment
- Size: 9” tall x 8-½” deep x 7” wide
- Item # C4401.27 SOLD
This female pottery storyteller figurine by Cochiti Pueblo artist Ada Suina seems happy with the story she is telling but the children do not seem to share her happiness. She is exquisitely dressed in traditional pueblo clothing with a long and decorated shawl hanging down her back. Her blouse sleeves and dress are finely decorated. She is wearing white moccasins with white leather leg wraps.
In Ada’s typical manner, the children are each unique in placement and style. Some are clinging to her, some resting on her lap and let and two standing off to the side looking up at her. This figurine was not purchased from us by the current owner but was probably made around 1980 as most of his collection was amassed in the late 1970s, into the 1980s. It is signed and in original condition.
