This polychrome bowl was created by an Acoma potter who signed P. Pasqual. It is a thin-walled bowl with a fluted rim, made using traditional materials and methods.
The potter placed three design bands on the exterior of the bowl. The identical upper and lower bands use repeating triangular forms in a soft variation of the traditional black pigment. In the central band, orange parallelograms with black outlines appear. A corner of each one touches a corner of the next, creating a continuous pattern. An additional thin line of black appears up top, circling the fluted rim.
The bottom of the bowl is signed Acoma, P. Pasqual. Unfortunately, we can’t find a record of this potter in our reference books or online.
