Special Offer: The owner has authorized a price reduction on this charming small jar from $650 down to $475. This is an unbelievable bargain. It is a wonderful small piece with designs over the entire surface of the vessel.
Occasionally one sees a piece of pottery which just stands out as very special! This is the case with this small Zia Pueblo jar. This vessel is traditional in every sense of the word in material, shape and decorations. The shape of the vessel with its widest part just below the rim would suggest a date of early 20th century. The patina defies such a date and makes one think it is a late 19th century piece.
The entire exterior of the vessel was coated in traditional Zia cream colored slip from rim to underbody. Three large birds and three large plants with berries were placed around the circumference of the jar. The full area of the vessel was filled with the design, elevating the small jar to a major visual piece.
