Sikya’tsun’taqa is called the katsina that eats the entrails of a cow. This name apparently came from a long time ago during a time that the Hopi were having a famine and the Spanish had driven off their sheep. They decided to have a katsina dance and a man with a cow decided to slaughter it to feed the katsina. Thus the name “holding entrails in the mouth” was adopted. The name has stuck.
The right arm has previously separated from the shoulder but appears to be in fine condition now. Overall, the doll is in very good condition.
