This is an exceptional Santo Domingo dough bowl that follows the pueblo's traditions in every aspect of materials, construction and design. The main body is decorated in black vegetal paint over the cream-colored rag-wiped bentonite slip. The design consists of infinity symbols repeated throughout the circumference of the bowl.

Double framing lines at the rim and near the underbody are penetrated by a traditional ceremonial break that goes through the entire design element. A black rim and red underbody complete the design. A wide red band under the decorated area is indicative of a late 19th to early 20th century date. The incurving rim is another indication of its age. Later bowls featured rims that flared outward.

This bowl has all the markings of one that was used extensively in the preparation of bread dough. The exterior patina indicates much handling by its owner and the interior patina shows significant indications of use.

A crack in the bowl has been professionally restored to bring the bowl back to its original condition.
