There is very little information published on Dolorita Gutierrez, except that her parents were Pasquelita and Severiano Tafoya and that she was an active potter starting in the late 1930s. Her sisters were Lorencita Romero, Tomacita Tafoya, Celestina Naranjo and Barbara Tafoya, all of whom were potters.
This small bowl is very traditionally Santa Clara in design and manufacture. The upper shoulder is decorated in matte painted designs and the lower body is stone polished and undecorated. The bowl is in what appears to be original excellent condition.
