From what I have been told, this axe or maul is of the style used in pueblo dances. The head is stone coated with ochre. The handle appears to be comprised of a single piece of wood wrapped around the stone head and covered in leather. It appears to be in excellent condition.
Provenance: The property of Philip Winship Davis, from the collection of his grandfather, George Parker Winship.
