Frances Torivio was one of Acoma's finer potters. She was sister to Lolita Concho and mother of Lilly Salvador and Wanda Aragon. The entire family was comprised of outstanding potters.
The four-color polychrome canteen prominently features a parrot on the belly of the canteen, protected by a double rainbow overhead.
The vessel is in excellent condition. There is some minor spalling of the clay but it is not significant. The piece is signed Frances P. Torivio Aak´u, New Mexico 1986.
