A naja is a crescent shaped item often used as a pendant on a Navajo-made necklace such as a squash blossom necklace. It derived from amulet on a horse harness brought to this country by the conquistadors in the 1500s. This one has a cross at the center of the crescent and two turquoise stones inset at the ends.
