Original Painting of a Pueblo Drummer [SOLD]

Atencio was certainly the finest painter at San Ildefonso Pueblo in the latter half of the 20th century. This painting, executed in 1946, when he was only 16 years old, is an indication of how early his talent flourished.

The detail in the beaded leggings, the buckskin fringe, the shirt, and the exceptional face of the man, all attest to his above average talent. This is a small but very powerful painting. It is signed and dated Gilbert Atencio 46.
