Tonita Peña began painting when she was seven years old. She was the only woman painter in her generation and was one of the original groups who participated in the contemporary watercolor movement.
Tonita used tempera to depict a corn dancer with a banner in this painting. It is in excellent condition. It is signed Quah A.H. Tonita Peña in lower right.
