Original Painting "Butterfly Dance" [R]

This original watercolor painting by Roybal features a male and female dance participant at San Ildefonso Pueblo performing the Butterfly Dance. The background is devoid of design as is typical of Roybal’s work. Only an indication of the ground plane is evident in the form of a geometric plane under the feet of the dancers. The painting is framed in archival acid free materials. It is signed in the lower right.

On the back of the painting, in Roybal’s hand, is the notation, “Butterfly Dance, San Ildefonso Pue., NM. March 30,1978.” Roybal passed away in June 1978.
