Tony Abeyta is unquestionably one of the most talented and celebrated young artists of today. He is versatile, talented, and never tires of trying new ideas.
In this painting, Abeyta is depicting a typical scene of pueblo life in and around Northern New Mexico. His style is reminiscent of that of the Taos Founders of the early 20th century.
Abeyta vividly portrays, in this painting, the cool mountain air at the time of year when the Aspens are turning from their bright summer green to fall yellows and reds. He further enhances this feeling with the young women being wrapped in blankets and shawls.
His use of bold colors reminds one of the works of his father who was no stranger to vivid colors.
The painting is framed in a handmade frame from Goldleaf Framemakers of Santa Fe, one of the premier frame makers in the city.
