Dean had no formal art training. He completely self taught himself through studying famous artists Edgar Payne and Maynard Dixon, whose work he admired because they simplified nature while revealing the necessary details. Dean’s mother was an artist and he was influenced by that but only to the extent that he liked accompanying her as she went outside to paint. He enjoyed being outside in nature.
Dean is a plein aidr landscape painter who enjoys capturing nature as it is at the moment and not adding anything not there at the time. He paints shadows, for instance, as they appear at the time of day he is painting—reflecting truth in his presentations.
This painting was completed by the artist in 2008. It is beautifully framed in a massive gold frame. Both painting and frame are in original excellent condition.
