Navajo-made silver spoons were made as early as 1895 and reached a pinnacle of popularity by 1920. The earlier ones were hammered from either Mexican silver coins or American silver coins. This spoon has the weight of coin silver. The bowl has been stamped with tee-pee like designs and the handle stamped with feather like designs. These simple designs are a trait of earlier work. A button stamp was used to impress the end of the handle.
