A wonderful Navajo handmade sterling silver spoon, made from solid coin silver slugs. The handle and bowl have stamping. This spoon had a paper label affixed to the back of the handle which reads Genuine Reservation Indian Hand Made From Solid Coin Silver Slugs. Part of the label is now missing. See sample for illustration. The spoon is in excellent condition. After the governments prohibited the use of both United States and Mexican coins, traders had coin silver slugs made in the likeness of the coins so familiar to the Navajos.
