Once Known Native American Carver
- Category: Traditional
- Origin: Hopi Pueblo, Hopituh Shi-nu-mu
- Medium: Cottonwood Root
- Size: 5-3/8" tall
- Item # C2941.09 SOLD
This is a charming carving of a Katsina but I have not identified which one it represents. I think the long skinny presentation is interesting and made use of a small cottonwood root. It is a carving from a single piece of root. There is some paint loss on the kilt and sash, but otherwise it is in good condition.
Provenance: From the estate of Transcendental artist Florence Pierce of Albuquerque who passed away in 2007 at the age of 89.
