Once Known Native American Carver
- Category: Traditional
- Origin: Hopi Pueblo, Hopituh Shi-nu-mu

- Size: 12-7/8" tall (to tip of spike on head)
- Item # C2939F SOLD
The Ai Katsina appears in the Mixed Dance in full costume as pictured here on this doll. The head of this particular doll is made from a gourd and pebbles are inside so that when shaken, the doll rattles.
I would estimate that the doll dates to circa 1960s. It is in extraordinary condition.
Provenance: From the personal collection of Frances Balcomb, owner of Balcomb’s Gallery, at one time located in Arizona, then Taos, Gallup, and Albuquerque, but closed since 1976.
