Tony Abeyta is unquestionably one of the most talented and celebrated young artists of today. He is versatile, talented, and never tires of trying new ideas. He is considered a true American Impressionist.

This is a mixed media painting consisting of oil, oil pastel, acrylic and sand, and features the images of a series of Navajo (Diné) Yeibichai. Abeyta uses the bold colors representative of his homeland and finds his medium of painting involving sand, acrylic, and oil paint, gold leafing and encaustic wax and collage elements to achieve the desired results.

The painting is framed in a shadow-box fashion so that the entire painted canvas is viewable. The red frame with gold trim was selected to coordinate with colors in the painting. The painting is signed in lower right, and was completed in February 2007.
