It appears that Beatien Yazz often executed paintings in pairs probably with the hope that a purchaser would select both thus doubling his chances of increased sales. That is probably the case here where this painting of a porcupine rambling around in a pumpkin patch at night is quite a complement to the one of two porcupines scavenging in the painting we have posted as our Item #C2962T.
Also included in and around the pumpkins are three squirrels and a skunk. There are ears of corn on the ground, probably the reason for so much activity in the pumpkin patch.
His long career as an artist is evident in the broad spectrum of his work. His love for art is evident in every one of his paintings. It is obvious he did not turn them out just to make a sale. Each painting was meticulously finished to the minutest detail.
Condition: The painting is in original excellent condition. . It has not been framed, only shrink-wrapped.
Provenance: This painting is among a collection from the Balcomb family, formerly owners of an art gallery which they closed in 1976.
