The Pueblo of Santo Domingo recently returned to the name of Kewa, which is the ancestral Keres name for the village located along the Rio Grande between Santa Fe and Albuquerque. Kewa has long been known among the Pueblos for its jewelry making. During the Depression-era when more expensive materials were unavailable, the jewelers at Kewa used a variety of substitutes, casings from car batteries and toothbrushes to produce jewelry that has now become highly collectible.

Depression-era earrings are becoming very difficult to find. These earrings are some of the nicest examples I have seen. The workmanship is very precise and the color combination of black, white and green is striking.
