Council of the Gods [SOLD]

Although Abeyta has been changing his style of painting over the last few years, occasionally he reverts to his old style. Here is one of them. In this image, he has portrayed the Navajo Yei Council of Gods, as it would appear in a religious ceremonial. It’s refreshing to see that he is still portraying the Diné in their traditional ceremonial functions.

It is a mixed media painting consisting of oil, oil pastel, acrylic and sand. He signed it in the lower right, and completed it in February 2004. It has not been framed. The canvas wraps around the stretcher, therefore it can be left without a frame, or be framed if desired.
