Ursula is the daughter of Alvin and Dolores Curran. Dolores is originally from Santa Clara Pueblo and moved to San Juan when she married. Ursula was born at San Juan, but according to matrilineal rules, the daughter is of the clan of the mother, so, technically, Ursula is a Tewa Indian from Santa Clara even though she is a native of San Juan Pueblo.
Ursula’s style of pottery design is traditional to Santa Clara Pueblo. She applies a matte buff paint to a polished red surface. Her design detail is well above that of most potters. She is exceptional in her design and painting techniques. Her brush strokes are flawless.
This is an extraordinary jewel among miniature pottery pieces. It is worthy of any collection.
