Ben Quintana was one of the most promising of the Cochiti Pueblo artist at the time World War II cut his life short. He was only 21 at that time. As a result, his paintings are very rare.

Clara Lee Tanner praised him as one of the truly talented young artist. She said, "This sensitive artist neglected no small detail in his painting. Colors employed by (him) are soft and pleasing throughout, and his treatment is direct and honest."

In this pleasing painting, the female bear is eyeing the activities of her cubs. One has taken an ear of corn and holding it in his lap. The other cub is watching to see what he does with it.
