- Medium: Native Materials
- Size: 3-1/2" deep x 7" diameter
- Item # C3065 SOLD
This set of four stew bowls was purchased directly from Sofia Medina by the current owner. He visited with her and she had three bowls for sale, but he wanted a set of four, so she sold him one of hers that she was using. The three she had for sale are signed with her name. The one she made for her own use is not signed with her name.
All four bowls exhibit the same design layout, that is, rectangular bars tipped and resting on each other. The designs on the bars are different on each of the four bowls, but the layout is the same. The four do not measure exactly the same but are very close to the same size.
Sofia learned the craft of pottery making from one of the most talented Zia potters of all times—Trinidad Medina, who was her husband's grandmother. Sofia has collaborated with Lois Medina, her daughter, and Elizabeth Medina, her daughter-in-law, who is married to Sofia's son Marcellus. These stew bowls are signed with only Sofia's name, so she made these on her own without outside help.
Condition: All four bowls are in excellent condition.
