The design on the top of the jar features four eagle tail elements draping over the shoulder. This is a design that Nampeyo painted during her career. The square red box around the opening was also a Nampeyo element of design.
James Garcia Nampeyo is the grandson of Fannie Polacca Nampeyo and son of Leah Garcia Nampeyo. He has been an active potter since around 1975 and has mastered the task. The vessel shape of this jar is well balanced and even and the design was applied with the utmost precision and detail. There is nothing to fault with this jar. The firing was traditional and produced a beautiful blush to the finish.
Condition: the jar is new and in original excellent condition
Provenance: recently from the artist
