The trefoil design, the circular element with three leaves on the interior, is a design borrowed from earlier Zia pottery referred to as Trios Polychrome (1820-1860).  This jar does not date to that period but the design has been appropriated from that period.

The trefoil design is the prominent design executed in black and the stepped orange element with brown tips is the prominent polychrome design.   Together, they make a visual statement on a jar of medium size.

Condition:  very good condition

Provenance: from the collection of a gentleman from Arizona
