Clara Pierce Wolcott Driscoll was one of the many creative artists employed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the late 1800s.  She was a major creative force for the company.  It was she who decided in 1897 to create mosaic lamp bases to accompany the bronze bases being produced at the time.  This became a major turning point for the company but, by 1910, the mosaic bases were phased out because of the expense and the bronze bases became the regular style again.

This modern reproduction of the dragonfly lamp shade resting on a mosaic base is a copy of the early Tiffany style including the electric light inside the upper portion of the base.  The mosaic tiles inserted in the base are turquoise in color and appear to be glass.

Condition:  The lamp is a contemporary one and is in original excellent condition.

Provenance: Purchased in 2009 in Miami Beach, Florida by the current owner
