Marie Romero and Adobe Gallery share a long history of working together. Marie participated in our storyteller exhibits and nacimientos exhibits as far back as the early 1980s. She was such a pleasant person that it was always a joy to work with her. She had a wonderful sense of humor and expressed it in some of her pottery creations, such as this jar with a human face.
This jar is fashioned as a standard vessel shape but the addition of ears, headband and nose, along with the painted face converted it to a non-standard vessel, but one with humor and charm. The artist added real turquoise earrings to the man.
Condition: the vessel is in original condition but there is some abrasion of the black paint on the sides and back.
Provenance: from the collection of Katherine H. Rust
