At first glance, one might think two young cowboys were out racing for the fun of it but looking closely at the etching, one sees the herd of steer in front of them. Perhaps they are racing, but they are also working at their job.
Sometimes an artist adds a special touch to a work to be given to a friend that consists of a marginal drawing in pencil as seen in lower left of this etching. This is referred to as a remarque.
The information provided on this etching was based on information in the catalogue raisonné of Borein etchings entitled The Etchings of Edward Borein by John Galvin, 1971. Borein did not date his etchings so no date has been estimated for this one. Borein passed away in 1945 so we know it predates that.
Condition: This etching was treated by a professional paper conservator and is in excellent condition. It is framed without matting so that the full extent of the paper is visible. Spacers separate the etching from the glass of the frame.
