This group of seven silver buttons and concha came from the Balcomb family that owned a gallery in Gallup, New Mexico, and later in Albuquerque. Mrs. Balcomb retired and closed the Albuquerque gallery in 1976. These buttons were most likely in the earlier gallery in Gallup, the heart of Navajo Indian country.
Three of the buttons are fluted and measure 1-3/8 inch in diameter each. Two of the buttons are stamped and measure 1-9/16 inch in diameter each. The single button with a turquoise cab is stamped and measures 1-1/4 inch in diameter. The oval silver one is a concha with a copper strap on verso through which a leather belt could be threaded. It measures 1-9/16 inch x 1-3/4 inch.
